Selecting Your Classes-Freshman

You will want to select classes which meet General Education Requirements, major or pre-requisite requirements for your professional program. In order to determine your requirements you will need to identify your desired academic program.

Classes which meet General Education Requirements are designated by two-letter codes on the suggested course list. Remember to avoid registering for courses in subject areas for which you have earned Advanced Placement (AP).

Some of your introductory courses may require qualifying or placement exams. Check the placement exam list for more information on which exams are required for your program.

Things that may be helpful to know in planning your schedule:

  • What subjects you like to study? List 5 - 7 classes you might want to take, and check days and times these classes are offered
  • Know days and times you will be working.
  • How long it takes you to get to campus (include time for rush hour traffic).
  • Are you more of a morning or evening person?
  • Are there any important upcoming dates on your calendar?
  • Are there family commitments you need to consider?
  • How much study time can you arrange each week?
  • Schedule only 12 - 15 credit hours your first term
  • Other questions to ask yourself
