It is the applicant’s responsibility to become thoroughly familiar with the admissions requirements, application deadlines, and other information for each school to which he or she applies.  Such information is summarized in Medical School Admission Requirements, published by the Association of American Medical Colleges.  Write to AAMC at 2450 N. Washington, D.C. 20037 or visit www.aamc.org or call 202-828-0400.  Information concerning schools of optometric and podiatric medicine may be obtained from the respective professional organizations.

All applicants, including those who repeat the professional test in the Fall or take it then for the first time, are strongly advised to complete their application for admission ASAP.  Pre-medical students who plan to apply under Early Decision Plan must arrange for all primary material to be received by AMCAS before deadline dates.

Students who anticipate applying to more than one kind of professional school should ask their instructor for Letters of Evaluation to the health professions, but not to a particular kind of professional school.

The cover sheets we provide give you, the student, the option of waiving your rights to access letters of recommendation.  Schools usually consider a confidential letter a more honest reflection of the evaluators’ view of that particular student.  Not being able to view those letters ensures the evaluator privacy and confirms your confidence in the impression on the evaluator.

Please keep in mind that the ease or difficulty that you experience when applying for admission depends largely on the thoroughness of your understanding of the process and the promptness with which you conduct your business.
